Hey guys/gals, Jim from Raleigh, NC here checking in here. BBChopper sent me over to check things out; he seen me around on an ole Purple bike running like shit a couple times I guess...;-)
I figure I'll try to run around 10k miles a season, judging from my last being just a bit shy. I prefer the longer rides/road trips over bar hopping but I'll do both..;-) I work in the telecom industry and the bike is a great stress relief from corporate BS life. My other vice is muscle/sports cars although they have taken the back burner since I've gotten back to two wheels. Anyway, that sounds like enough......ya prolly wanna see what I'm working with.....

Welcome aboard PurpleDog, very nice bike. I see the police behind your bike. I hope they just pulled you over to check out your bike. your not to far from me. I live in Hartsville SC. I go up to Raleigh often. usually up to New Hill.
What kinda intake and carb are you running on your bike?

Thanks guys; yeah that cop was checking out my bike. He was digging it too but that didn't stop him from giving me a ticket for 85 in 65. He did offer to double the fine and give me no points though, I took it and helped the great state of SC out last fall. I was actually lucky he hadn't seen me the previous 300-400 miles probably....lol <shrug>

Anyway, so I've got a complete dual Edelbrock carb setup on there w/there intake as well. It ran pretty damn good last year when I bought it, but something just hasn't seemed right with it since I've had it out this year. I had it down to FL for Daytona Bikeweek and I was getting detonation on the highway, coughing...I dunno what's going on yet. Just changed exhaust too which probably wasn't too smart until I figured out what was already going on, but you know - new chrome, lol. So, I think I got/had lean mid throttle condition - now need to see how it acts with new exh.

Most folks I come across seem to like the look of 'em, I like that it's different than what you typically see running around. I can't really speak to its performance quality characteristics though compared to some of the other proven setups I've read about ya know...IOW - bling factor +1..;-) performance, not quiet right at the moment.

I like the carb setup. Don't talk to loud about that ticket in SC. Jersey Iron Pete up there has already wigged out about South Carolina and Bike Week. Don't need to get him started again.
He wants to blow the state off the map....LOL

Welcome purpledog, don't sweat the carb issue I've been there myself. I gave this weber setup about a 1-1/2 years before I threw in the towel.

I think I have a picture of one of our members here being pulled over by a cop. Right under a sign that said something like, "Need a laywer?" I'll have to look for that.
