OK well got the chop pulled apart and figured I would start doing some cheep mods.
first up the tach.
My tachOmeter has green led lights running up the rpms.
then it turns to orange led lights.
I figured I would pull the tach apart and put in a new color.
how about blue????

check it.

first take off the four allen screws holding on the tank.
there right under the tank with nice chrome covers. Yep those ...... Yank!!!!!!!!
Image
throw those bitches on the ground for you to step on later.
2) Next losen the 2 bolts to the handle bars......... fuck it !!!!!!!!!! losen up all the shit on the handle bars!
drop some stuff in a jar.. so you don't lose too much.
Image
turn the petcock off on the tank then unscrew the hose clamp on the gas line.
I stuck something in the hose so it would not drip on the bike or me. (a drill chuck).

3) Pull that fucking tank off.

there we go ..... ok I forgot what I was goig to do.........?????

????

????

OH wait that's right start pulling the tach.
4)unpluge both tack plugs that were under the tank.
Image
these ones
5)Undew this allen acorn combo here.
Image
this lets the wire lose to pull out.
6) Undew the allens on the out side of the speedo.
then pull the wires free.
8) now there is a small allen left on the speedo outside undo this too.
now pull the speedo apart.

Image
undew the 2 screws holding the speedo and tach together.
unplug the plugs and cut any zip ties.
33) there should be a lock ring holding the led board in the houseing.
pop that away.
Image
I used hemostats. go figure.....
Image
pull the board lose.
I stard heating the leds using a solder sucker ad removing the lights.
Image
Image
here are new leds

Hmmm ran out of pictures.....
Ok solder in new leds and put everything back together.
After I do this I will post some more picture.

It looks so much better in real life then in the pictures.
I will try to put up better pictures.
Sure enouph one burned out or has a bad connection up in the high rpm area.
I will have to repair that.

how is the light at night??? distracting? or to bright? looks like a cool mod. wish i could get my harley tach and speedo apart.....all factory sealed and glued together. if it goes bad ya take 250 bucks to the dealer and get a new one.......that sucks. the older speedos were easy to get apart.......
